  Fire Response
The Birmingham Area Chapter's ARCHIE team responded at 5 a.m. to a 13 unit apartment fire at 500 Tuscaloosa Ave. One unit was totally destroyed. Four units had major damage with extreme water/smoke damage. Five with smoke damage only and three units had no fire damage.

Red Cross has opened a shelter at First Baptist Church at Acipco for about 24 residents affected by this fire. The Red Cross shelter is scheduled to be open tonight through Monday afternoon while the apartement complex works on get new units for the families and power restored.
