  Lifesaving Award

On Sept. 12 at 6 p.m., American Red Cross will be at Trussville City Hall honoring local hero, Trent Williamson who saved a 9-year-old boy.

The child was enjoying a pool party with his baseball team when he was spotted floating facedown in the shallow end of the pool. Williamson, an off duty lifeguard, pulled the boy out of the pool and preformed Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) saving the boy’s life. The child was taken to the hospital and was released five hours later.

Williamson was CPR and First Aid certified by the Birmingham Area Chapter of American Red Cross in April 2006 as part of his lifeguard training. Red Cross will be presenting him with a lifesaving award.

Trent is a true example of why Red Cross provides training in CPR, First Aid and Life guarding,” says Kristy Day, Director of Health and Safety. “The goal of American Red Cross is to have more individuals in our community trained to respond to emergencies.”

The City of Trussville will also be issuing a proclamation declaring Sept. 12 as “Trent Williamson Day.”
