The child was enjoying a pool party with his baseball team when he was spotted floating facedown in the shallow end of the pool. Williamson, an off duty lifeguard, pulled the boy out of the pool and preformed Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) saving the boy’s life. The child was taken to the hospital and was released five hours later.
Williamson was CPR and First Aid certified by the Birmingham Area Chapter of American Red Cross in April 2006 as part of his lifeguard training. Red Cross will be presenting him with a lifesaving award.
